Qlix Magazine - Photo Of The Week

Photographer: Daniel Muhindi
Bio:
b. 1987 in London, Daniel Muhindi is a gifted young talent with a huge drive who is beginning to make an impact on the London creative scene and establish himself as one of the new crop of fashion photographers. Self taught, Daniel has worked on his photography for years and now operates from his Studio in central London. He recently shot for Reebok, who were extremely happy with the photos he delivered for the London launch of Vice Style. His portfolio shows off a signature high-end aesthetic that he is able to adapt to client briefs, from high fashion editorials to sportswear advertising. Daniel is now in the process of gaining agency representation. With a strong portfolio, a solid work ethic, Daniel Muhindi is destined for success.
What was your inspiration behind this particular photograph?
Coco, (model) & the way Ali (hair & makeup) and Ella (stylist) styled her. The styling is spot on.. I really liked the Henriette Lofstrom shoulder piece. You can see how it’s influenced the way I positioned my model, very angular.. like the shapes on the shoulder-piece. The clothes are important in fashion photography but unless you have some kind of connection or rapport with the model when you shoot, you’ll be lucky to come away with anything exciting. When you’re working with a great team who know what they’re doing, they create a character for you to photograph. It’s exciting seeing a model with great makeup in amazing clothes. It’s inspiring.. When the rapport with the model is there, you get back to your studio and look through the shoot and it’s hard to chose a final image.

"As the extension of its style magazine, Vice, the site will be aimed at the youth generation and aims to capitalise on Vice's six million monthly users.
Vicestyle.com will feature global fashion shoots, news and features from 30 countries, and aims to be a global youth fashion hub for an international perspective on the next generation of fashion."
"We couldn't tell you where the Vice Style party was yesterday, but you were probably there anyway. The tabloids liked Amy Winehouse, Klaxons, Miquita Oliver, Pixie Geldof, but our photogaphers preferred taking pictures of the hot people on the swing. Thanks to Reebok, Sailor Jerry, Kopparberg Cider, Wyborowa vodka, and Peroni Nastro Azzurro, lovely stuff. Oh, and the bands and DJs were great too: Matthew Stone, Big Pink, Koudlam, Wild Palms, The Flats and The Lovely Jonjo - thanks guys. Actually extra special thanks to Matthew. PS If you lost your wallet and your surname begins with 'V' then email here." quoted from vicestyle.com
